May 5, 2020Are you having some issues with your POS system? Or have you had it so long you can’t remember when you got it? If that is the case, it is long past time to upgrade thanks to the EMV liability shift from 2016 at the very least. Either way there comes a time when replacing your POS terminal or POS systemwill need to be done. You will want to do it before it fails, so what are some of the signs that you should be looking for?
Speed, Errors and Crashes
When your business gets busy does your POS terminal shine or does it crash and give you more headaches than you need? If it is the latter it may be time to replace your POS system. If a hardware issue is occurring or is becoming too frequent it could be a sign of a failure so replace whatever needs to be replaced now.
Generally you want your POS system to work as quickly as possible. Your customers don’t like to wait and some may decide to do business with someone else. If your employees are spending too much time waiting for your system to process that means that they have less time to spend with your customers.
Incorrect Orders
No one wants to get the wrong order. It doesn’t matter if it is a diner in your restaurant or a customer who has ordered something online. Getting the wrong order is embarrassing and will make a bad impression with your customers. While human error can happen the only other option is that your POS system is not keeping up.
You Work For Your POS System And Not The Other Way Around
Your POS system is supposed to work for you and be customized for your business. If your POS system cannot keep up with your business or is not able to be customized for the needs of your business it is time to upgrade. You might want to institute a loyalty program but your system cannot handle that. Or maybe you want to input a promotion but your system won’t let you. If that is the case, an upgrade is in order.
Analytics
One of the major benefits of a POS system is the analytics and reporting that it offers. Is your POS system taking too long to generate reports so that you can keep an eye on your business when you are not there or at the end of the day? Or are your reports not detailed enough? If that is the case an upgrade is necessary.
